Coronavirus claims 2427 lives in India as Nigeria reports 49 new cases

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 49 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases in the country to 166,816. But out of the 166,816 confirmed cases, 163,190 patients have been treated and discharged; while 2,117 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 1509 active cases of Coronavirus.

There are now 173, 435,500 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, worldwide, 3, 731, 795 lives have been wasted by the pandemic, while 2, 139, 470, 073 doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered globally, based on the latest updates from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States of America remains the most afflicted country, now reporting 33,374, 812 confirmed cases, while 597, 898 patients have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic(12, 565 new and 274 deaths*), followed by India which has registered 28, 909, 975 all time cases, while 349, 186 patients have died(100, 636 new and 2427 deaths*) and Brazil which has reported 16, 947, 062 confirmations, while 473, 404 patients have been killed by the pandemic.

France is the 4^th country most affected, reporting 5, 775, 525 all time cases, while 110, 224 patients are no more(1164 new and 64 deaths*), followed by Turkey with 5, 293, 627 all time infections, while 48, 255 infected persons have given up the ghost(5647 new and 91 deaths*) and Russia, which has reported 5, 076, 543 all time infections, while 122, 037 other patients have perished as a result of the pandemic(9297 new and 326 deaths*).

The United Kingdom has come up as the 7^th country most hit, reporting 4, 538, 386 all time infections while 128, 104 others are no more(5585 new and 1 death*), followed by Italy with 4, 233, 698 all time cases, while 126, 588 patients have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic(1270 new and 65 deaths*) and Argentina which has registered 3, 955, 439 all time cases of Coronavirus, while 81, 214 lives have been snatched away by the pandemic.

Germany remains the 10^th country most afflicted, reporting 3, 710, 341 all time infections, while 89, 305 patients are no more(1559 new and 71 deaths*) and South Africa, now the 20^th country most hit, reporting 1, 696, 564 all time infections while 56,974 others have passed on.
