PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – The Rivers State Cassava Processing plant has been inaugurated. It was inaugurated on Thursday by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammed Sabo Nanono.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike said the plant which processes cassava to high quality flour would contribute to addressing the food and employment challenges.

He said it will provide an important import substitute for the country.” It would also engage and off take the Cassava produce of 3,000 farmers in the state”, he said.
He thanked the Honourable Minister, the Governor of the CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, Mr Tony Attah of NLNG and our other esteemed guests for their presence.
“I also appreciate SPDC and the Dutch Government for their courage to partner with Rivers State to actualise this project”, Wike said.
