LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 37 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases in the country to 165,419.

But out of the 165,419 confirmed cases, 156,297 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,065 others could not make it alive,  leaving Nigeria with 7057 active cases of Coronavirus.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Yobe-13, Lagos-12, Akwa Ibom-6, FCT-3, Edo-1, Kaduna-1 and Ogun-1, making a total of 37 new cases of Coronavirus.

“NCDC@NCDC 37 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Yobe-13, Lagos-12, Akwa Ibom-6, FCT-3, Edo-1, Kaduna-1 and Ogun-1: 165,419 confirmed; 156,297 discharged; 2,065 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

There are now over 157, 901,597 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 3, 287, 558 others are no more, while 93, 931, 743 others have recovered and subsequently discharged. There are now 60, 682, 296 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country globally, now reporting 32, 704, 597  confirmed cases, while 581, 741 patients have been killed as a result of the pandemic(25, 895 new and 290 deaths*), followed by India, which has documented 22, 296, 414  confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 242, 362 deaths and 18, 317, 404 recoveries, leaving India with 3, 736, 648 active cases of Coronavirus(403, 738 new and 4092 deaths*) and Brazil which has registered 15, 184, 790  confirmations,  422, 340 lives have passed on while 13, 449, 688 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 1, 312, 762  active cases of Coronavirus(102, 341 new and 3226 deaths*).

France has come up as the 4th country most hit by the pandemic, now reporting 5, 838,294  confirmed cases, 106, 553  lives are no more, while 371, 478 others are now hale and hearty, leaving France with 5, 360, 263  active cases of Coronavirus(9128 new and 115 deaths*), followed by Turkey, which has documented  5,031, 332 all time cases, 43,029  lives  are no more,  while 4, 716, 918 others have recovered, leaving Turkey with 217, 385 active cases of Coronavirus(15, 191 new and 283 deaths*) and Russia which has reported 4,824, 621  all time cases,  111, 425  confirmed cases, while 4, 444, 712 others  have recovered, leaving Russia with 268, 484  active cases of Coronavirus(8290 new and 328 deaths*).

The United Kingdom has come up as the 7th country most hit, reporting 4, 450, 578  confirmations,  127, 865 lives have been lost to the pandemic, while 15,011 others have  recovered, leaving the UK with 4, 307, 702 current cases of the pandemic(1770 new and 2 deaths*), followed by Italy which has documented 4, 111, 210  all time cases,  122, 833  lives are no more, while 3, 604, 523 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Italy with 383, 854  active cases of Coronavirus(8289 new and 139 deaths*)  and Spain which has reported 3, 567, 408 total infections, 78, 792 patients have died as a result of the virus, while 150, 376 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving Spain with 3, 338, 240 active cases of Coronavirus(30 new*).

Germany has come up as the 10th country worst hit by the pandemic, now reporting 3, 530, 887 confirmed cases, 84, 796 deaths and 3, 172, 880 recoveries, leaving Germany with 273, 211  active cases of Coronavirus(10, 557 new and 128 deaths*) and South Africa which has reported 1, 596, 595 confirmed cases,  54, 735 deaths and 1, 516, 256  recoveries, leaving South Africa with 25, 604 active cases of Coronavirus(3969 new and 48 deaths*).
