Coronavirus claims 4,106 lives in India as Nigeria reports 69 cases

LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 69 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases in the country to 165,778.

But out of the 165,778 confirmed cases, 156,415 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,067 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 7296 active cases of Coronavirus while 1 person died in the last 24 hours.

There are now 163, 239, 850 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 3,382, 797 patients have been killed by the pandemic while a total of 1, 478, 114,512 doses of vaccines have been administered worldwide based on the latest updates from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, now reporting 32, 964, 728 confirmed cases, while 586, 326 others have been killed by the pandemic (27, 218 new and 382 deaths*), followed by India with 24, 965,463 all time infections and 274, 390 deaths (281, 386 new and 4,106 deaths*) and Brazil with 15, 627,475 all time cases and 435, 751 total deaths(40, 941 new and 1036 deaths*).

France is the 4^th country most afflicted, reporting 5, 942,369 confirmed cases and 107, 973 deaths (3350 new and 196 deaths*)and Russia which has documented 4, 892, 938 all time infections and 114, 263 all time deaths(9204 new and 336 deaths*) and Turkey, which has reported 5, 127, 548 confirmed cases and 44, 983 total deaths(10, 174 new and 223 deaths*).

The United Kingdom, remains the 7^th country most afflicted, reporting 4, 468, 568 all time cases and 127, 946 all time deaths(29, 979 new and 5 deaths*) and Italy, which has registered 4, 162, 576 all time cases, while 124, 296 others have been killed by the pandemic(3454 new and 140 deaths*), followed by Spain which has reported 3, 615, 860 all time infections, while 79, 432 patients have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic(11, 061 new 93 deaths*).

Germany remains the 10^th country most hit, reporting 3, 608, 292 all time cases, while 86,212 patients are now dead(5524 new and 96 deaths*) and South Africa which has documented 1, 615, 485 cases and 55, 260 all time deaths(4342 new and 77 deaths*).
