ENUGU, Nigeria- South East Leaders today agreed to amend relevant laws to pave way for a smooth operation of the South East regional security outfit, Ebube Agu.

In a  resolution signed by Ebonyi State Governor and Chairman South-east Governors Forum, Mr. David Umahi, the leaders directed State Attorney Generals and Commissioner for Justice to work with  the Joint Security Committee to come up with  the amendment of existing State laws to reflect the existence of Ebube Agu.

The leaders also agreed on the operational modalities of Ebube Agu and to set up an advisory board for the outfit.  They agreed that the outfit will work with the Nigeria Police and other security outfit to protect lives and properties in the South East.

The meeting directed Ohaneze Ndigbo to  immediately form two committees, the South East Peace and Reconciliation Committee to engage the people for peace and security and Strategy and welfare committee to engage and protect the people, especially those unfairly treated.

The meeting reinstated that ban for open grazing, restructuring and state police.
