LAGOS, Nigeria – Lawmaker Representing Surulere Constituency in the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Desmond Eliot is no doubt the most troubled lawmaker in Nigeria as at today, perhaps all over the world.
The prominent filmmaker first made his way into twitter and was trending for a number of days after he commissioned an infamous public toilet as his constituency project after spending years in the Lagos House of Assembly.
Although his comments also caused some uproar, Desmond Eliot, whom many youths see as role model nosed dived in public rating among Lagos youths following his outburst on the floor of the house in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest, during which a number of youths were shot and some killed after soldiers mobilsed to the scene by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos opened fire on a peaceful and the most well coordinated street protest in Nigeria.
Perhaps in a bid to satisfy his paymasters, Desmond Eliot suddenly became the arrowhead of forces against the peaceful #endSARS movement when he attempted to lump the hoodlums that evaded the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Alayeluwa Oba Rilwan Akiolu1, looting and setting ablaze the symbol of culture with the peaceful movement. The hoodlums also visited a carnage on Lagos, that would take years rectify.
However, the hoodlums were certainly not members of the peaceful #EndSARS movement, even though the onslaught cannot be unconnected with the brazen conduct of the Nigerian Army who opened fire on the young lads who were determined to end police brutality by using the movement as a vehicle to put in place a better welfare package for the Nigeria Police.
This is where handsome Nollywood icon got it wrong and since then, Desmond Eliot has become the symbol of anything wrong or bad in Nigeria. The youths even took pictures of animals in their quest to demonise and pass on their message of hatred against this icon of Nollywood.
But what played out today has nothing to do with Desmond Eliot’s verbosity on #EndSARS but his new project, the Shitta Oke-Odo wooden Link Bridge which was reconstructed by Hon. Desmond Eliot with his billboard by the side. This is the picture that generated the raucous on twitter.

Chlorpheniramine@victorisrael recalled the source of anger against the lawmaker when he twitted; “Desmond Elliot called innocent Protesters Children because we chose to lend our voices to #EndSARS
“He knew that those who looted the Oba’s palace and shopping malls weren’t part of #EndSARS protest but he insulted us anyway then came with a stupid apology .GOD PUNISH YOU!”, he twitted.

So, who will save our Desmond Eliot from these angry youths?
