Coronavirus claims 3560 lives in Brazil as Nigeria reports 67 new cases

LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 67 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 164,147.

But out of the 164,147 confirmed cases, 154,304 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,061 others could  not survive the pandemic, leaving Nigeria with 7782 active cases of Coronavirus.

 

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-26, Kaduna-11, Akwa Ibom-8, Rivers-8, Ogun-5, Kano-3, Osun-3, FCT-2 and Plateau-1, making a total of 67 new cases of Coronavirus.

There are now 139, 501,416 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide,  2, 992, 237 patients are no more alive, while 79, 948, 221 others have recovered and therefore discharged. The world is now left with 56, 560, 958 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, globally now reporting 31, 563,546  confirmations,  while 566,088 lives have been lost to the pandemic(86, 180 new and 1021 deaths*) , followed by India which has registered  14, 291, 917  confirmations,  174, 308 patients have passed on, while  12, 547,866 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving  India with 1, 569, 743  active cases of Coronavirus(217, 353 new and 1185 deaths*) and Brazil which has documented 13, 746, 681  all time cases,  365, 444 patients have lost their lives, while 12, 163, 831  others have been treated and discharged, leaving  Brazil with 1, 217, 406  active cases of Coronavirus(73, 174 new and 3560 deaths*).

France has come up as the 4th country most affected, reporting 5, 285, 296 all time infections, 100, 563 patients are already dead, while  325,752 others  have survived the pandemic, leaving France with 4, 858, 981 active cases of Coronavirus(36,443 new and  331 deaths*), followed by Russia which has registered  4, 631,  336  all time infections,  103, 059 lives have been lost to the pandemic, while  4, 261,528 others are now hale and hearty, leaving Russia with 266, 749  active cases of Coronavirus(8872 new and 392 deaths*) and the United Kingdom which has reported  4, 398,862 confirmed cases of the pandemic,  127, 472 deaths, while 13, 877 others have been treated and discharged, leaving the UK with 4, 257, 513 active cases of Coronavirus(2854 new and 35 deaths*).

Turkey has come up as the 7th country worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 4, 150, 039 all time cases,  35, 320 deaths and  3, 591, 550 recoveries, leaving Turkey with 523, 169  active cases of Coronavirus(63, 082 new and 289 deaths*) , followed by Italy with  3, 842, 079  all time cases, 116, 366 patients are no more, while 3, 218,975 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Italy with 506, 738  active cases of Coronavirus(15, 923 new and 429 deaths*) and Spain with 3, 407, 283  confirmations,  76, 981 deaths and 150, 376 recoveries, leaving Spain with 3, 179, 926 active cases of Coronavirus(10, 598 new and 99 deaths*) .

Germany remains the 10th country worst hit, reporting  3, 120,016  confirmed cases, 79, 762 lives have been lost to the virus, while  2, 763, 260 others  have recovered, leaving Germany with 276, 994 active cases of Coronavirus(25, 020 new 242 deaths*) and South Africa which has reported 1, 564,355 confirmed cases,  53, 663 patients are no more while  1, 488, 572  others have recovered, leaving South Africa with  22, 120 active cases of Coronavirus(2796 new and 165 deaths*).
