LAGOS, Nigeria – An icon of the Nigerian film industry, otherwise known as Nollywood, Sadiq Daba is dead. He died on Wednesday evening. He was 70 years.
The veteran actor, who gained his repute through the role he played in the classic television series, Cock Crow at Dawn had had a bout with leukemia and prostate cancer both of which he survived after well meaning Nigerians rallied round and was back to acting until this unfortunate incident.
Writing on his demise, the former Vice President of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku said, :Sad that the cock will no longer crow at dawn. Sadiq Daba, thank you for the joy you brought into our homes. May your sins be forgiven, and your memories be a blessing”, he said.
Reacting to the demise of Sadiq Daba, Nollywood queen, Foluke Daramola said, We lost another veteran Sadiq Daba….Rest on our great hero, U have fought a good fight…”, she said.
