LAGOS, Nigeria – Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide will today, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at sundown celebrate the commemorate the death of Jesus Christ.

Just like last year, the Lord’s Evening Meal or Lord’s Super will not hold in Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses. But  it will be held virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which has killed over 2.7 million people worldwide.

The Memorial of Christ’s death is the most important occasion in the lives of Jehovah’s Witnesses based on Jesus’ command urging followers to celebrate the occasion in remembrance of him.

The Lord’s Evening Meal is held every year by Jehovah’s Witnesses on Nissan 14 in obedience to Jesus’ command, urging all genuine Christians to commemorate it at Luke 22:19.

The Memorial was instituted by Jesus Christ on Nissan 14 in 33CE with the 11 Apostles after the departure of Judas Iscariot who eventually betrayed him for 30 pieces of silver.

Jehovah’s Witnesses follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ who used two emblems, the unleavened bread, which stands for his perfect body and unfermented wine, which represent his blood, shed once in behalf of all for forgiveness of sin and to keep hope alive on the basis of promised resurrection, Mark 14:22 – 24.

JW are commemorating the event on March 27 because it corresponds to Nissan 14 in the Jewish Calendar, the day that Jesus Christ instituted the memorial.

They are inviting you all to celebrate this sobre moment with them by reflecting on the benefit of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. For example, that sacrifice availed all of us forgiveness of our sins and hope for the resurrection.

You are cordially invited to join us at 6:30 on Zoom: 361508144
