IKEJA, Lagos – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 179 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 161,074. But out of the 161,074 confirmed cases, 146,072 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,018 others could not make alive, leaving Nigeria with 12, 984 active cases of Coronavirus, while 2 patients died in the last 24 hours.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-47, Kaduna-21, Rivers-18, Akwa Ibom-14, FCT-11, Edo-10, Cross River-9, Ogun-9, Nasarawa-6, Ebonyi-5, Ekiti-5, Zamfara-5, Delta-4, Kano-4, Osun-4, Plateau-3, Abia-2, Gombe-1 and Sokoto-1, making a total of 179 new cases.

There are now 120, 530,037 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2, 665,925 patients have passed on, while 68,359, 777 others have been given clean bill of health. There are now 49, 504, 335 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics uploaded by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States of America remains the most afflicted country, now reporting 29, 542,308 confirmed cases, 536,639 patients have lost their lives in the US alone(57, 149 new and 1087 deaths*), followed by Brazil which has documented 11,519, 609 all time cases, 279, 286 patients are no more, while 10, 226, 925 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving Brazil with 1, 013, 398 active cases of Coronavirus(36, 239 new and 1057 deaths*) and India which has registered 11, 409,831 total cases, 158, 856 patients are already dead, while 11, 027, 543 others have been treated and discharged, leaving India with 223, 432 active cases of Coronavirus(24, 492 new and 131 deaths*).
Russia is the 4th country worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 4, 360, 033 confirmations, 91, 395 deaths and 3, 968,826 recoveries, leaving Russia with 299, 812 active cases of Coronavirus(9305 new and 437 deaths*), followed by the United Kingdom with 4, 282,141 all time infections, 125, 927 deaths and 11, 997 recoveries, leaving the UK with 4, 144, 217 active cases of Coronavirus(5313 new and 110 deaths*) and France which has reported 4, 168, 394 confirmed cases, 91, 324 patients have passed on while 282, 152 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving France with 3, 794, 918 active cases of Coronavirus(36, 309 new and 400 deaths*).
Italy has overtaken Spain to remain the 7th country worst hit, with 3, 258,770 confirmed cases, 103, 001 deaths and 2, 619,654 recoveries, leaving Italy with 536, 115 active cases of Coronavirus (20, 376 new and 502 deaths*)and Spain which has reported 3, 200,024 all time cases, 72, 565 patients have lost their lives, while 150, 376 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving Spain with 2, 977, 083 active cases of Coronavirus(4962 new and 141 deaths*) and Turkey, now reporting 2, 911,642 confirmations, 29, 623 patients have passed on, while 2, 734, 862 others have recovered, leaving Turkey with 147, 156 active cases of Coronavirus(16, 749 new and 71 deaths*).
Germany remains the 10th country worst hit by the pandemic, now reporting 2, 594, 662 confirmed cases, 73, 785 deaths and 2, 378,987 patients are now hale and hearty, leaving Germany with 141, 890 active cases of Coronavirus(9293 new and 282 deaths*) and South Africa, still the 16th country most affected, now reporting 1, 530, 033 confirmations, 51, 421 patients have kicked the bucket while 1, 455,325 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving South Africa with 23, 287 active cases of Coronavirus(613 new*).
