ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Former senator representing Anambra south senatorial district and governorship aspirant in Anambra state 2021 on platform of All Progressive congress( APC) , Senator Andy Uba has carpeted People Democratic Party( PDP) for criticizing president Muhammadu Buhari on projects across the country.
Uba said that Buhari has demonstrated more commitment to the development of the country more than any other government since 1999. Senator Uba on Sunday, while addressing his supporters in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of the state said that south east should be grateful and show more appreciations to the president for his numerous projects in the zone .
According to him, Buhari is the only president in the county who has given the south east a sense of belonging and adequate attention in facilities and development over the years .
” Buhari is the only president that makes a promise and keeps to it. Look at the second Niger Bridge that has been used for politics over the years. But he said he will complete it and he had invested huge money to it. Same with Enugu-Onitsha road. He is not into political maneuvering. He doesn’t lie. That is why he is a man of few words. One statement he makes means a lot.
“I will continue to relate with him and love him because I know what he can do” he said. He said the south east should reciprocate the president gesture by massively registering with the All Progressive Congress APC .
” People want to know why I support Buhari and I told them that he is the only president who has demonstrated love and commitment to the development of the south east . He called on the Anambra people to come out enmass to register in the ongoing APC registration and revalidation exercise .
He also used the opportunity to appeal for those he offended to forgive him, saying that nobody is above mistake. According to him, the first thing is to register to ensure they participate in the primary, whether direct or indirect. Uba regretted that people from other zones in the state have been coming to the area and most people are being deceived to support them .
” It is painful to note that our place has remained the way it is because other contestants come here and gather all our votes and go. We have severally been accused of not voting for our own. The results are there to show. Since Mbadinuju’s time till date, nobody has brought development to us. Yet, it is our vote they leverage to win.
Many of you have accused me for abandoning you. I have done many things. Just that I don’t make noise about it. I will reel out some of my achievements and the people I have empowered to shock most of you. My worry is that even those that benefitted from my empowerment will be part of those stabbing me at the back” he said
He said that ,unfortunately, it is the negative things in his government that’s being highlighted. According to him, those that achieve great feats hardly talk, just like me. He said that if they are united, nobody can defeat them because they are scattered all over Anambra and Nigeria and commanding power. He regretted that there are several factions among the youths and if they come together, nobody can come here to take our votes.
He urged the youths to take his governorship project as theirs and not Andy Uba. He said that he is a material that can be sold to any person for the greater Anambra state
“You have a material you can sell to anybody, both in the state and federal level. Obiano was so afraid of me in the last election that he insisted that I shouldn’t be given the ticket. In fact, he would not have been the governor if I had been given the ticket” he said.
