LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 542 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 152,616. Out of the 152,616 confirmed cases, 129,300 patients have been treated and discharged, while 1,862 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 21, 454 active cases of Coronavirus, while 23 patients died in the last 24 hours.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-99, Kwara-91, Ebonyi-48, Ogun-44, Kaduna-42, Oyo-33, Ondo-25, FCT-24, Kebbi-23, Osun-20, Ekiti-17, Nasarawa-12, Imo-11, Delta-10, Gombe-9, Kano-8, Katsina-7, Rivers-7, Edo-5, Plateau-4 and Bauchi-3, making a total of 542 new cases of Coronavirus.

There are now 111, 642,024 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2, 471,801 lives have been lost to the virus, while 62, 956,188 others have been treated successfully and discharged. The world is now left with 46, 214, 035 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics released by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 28, 174,133 all time cases, while 500,071 patients have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic in the US alone(54, 600 new and 1557 deaths*) , followed by India which has reported 11, 005, 850 confirmed cases, 156,386 patients are no more, while 10, 699, 410 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving India with 150, 054 active cases of Coronavirus(14, 317 new and 84 deaths*) and Brazil which has documented 10, 168, 174 confirmed cases, 246, 504 patients are no more as a result of the pandemic, while 9, 101, 952 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving Brazil with 819, 718 confirmed cases of Coronavirus(29,026 new and 527 deaths*).
The United Kingdom has come up as the 4th country worst hit, reporting 4, 138, 225 all time infections, 120, 987 patients are no more, while only 11,327 patients have survived the pandemic, leaving the UK with 4, 005, 911 Coronavirus cases(12, 652 new and 477 deaths*), followed by Russia now reporting 4, 130, 447 confirmations, 82, 225 deaths and 3, 684,955 recoveries, leaving Russia with 368, 267 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 455 new and 299 deaths*) and France which has registered 3, 669, 346 confirmed cases, 84, 763 patients are already dead, while 256,748 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving France with 3, 327, 835 active cases of Coronavirus(71, 806 new and 1217 deaths*).
Spain is the 7th country worst hit by the virus, now reporting 3, 153, 971 all time infections, 67, 636 patients have passed on while 150, 376 others have recovered, leaving Spain with 2, 935,959 active cases of Coronavirus(20, 849 new and 535 deaths*), followed by Italy with 2, 818,863 confirmed cases, 95, 992 patients have passed on while 2, 334, 968 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Italy with 387, 903 active cases of Coronavirus(9617 new and 274 deaths*) and Turkey which has documented 2, 646,526 confirmed cases, 28, 138 deaths and 2,529, 450 recoveries, leaving Turkey with 88, 938 active cases of Coronavirus(8104 new and 78 deaths*).
Germany continues as the 10th country worst hit with 2, 399,490 confirmations, 68,079 patients are no more, while 2, 204,602 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Germany with 126, 809 active cases of Coronavirus(4975 new and 179 deaths*) and South Africa still the 16th country most affected, with 1, 504,588 all time infections, 49, 150 patients have passed on, while 1, 413, 566 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving South Africa with 41, 872 active cases of Coronavirus(2221 new and 210 deaths*).
