NEVADA – Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Leon Spinks Jnr is dead. He was 67. He died on Friday after a months of battle with prostrate cancer.
According to Bxinglife, at the point of his death on Friday evening, his wife Brenda was by his side, adding that as a result of the COVID-19 restriction, only a few family friends were by his side.
Leon Spinks came into public reckoning in 1976 when he won the gold medal at the Montreal Olympics. He became world undisputed champion, two years later in 1978 when he defeated Mohammed Ali to become the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.
During his lifetime, Leon Spinks won several professional titles. He won 46 professional bouts out of the 76 professional fights he took part in. Leon Spinks was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2017.
