IKEJA, Lagos – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 1624 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 137, 654. But out of the 137, 654 confirmed cases, 111, 639 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving Nigeria with 1641 active cases of Coronavirus.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows , Lagos-535, Plateau-183, Osun-98, Akwa Ibom-85, FCT-83, Ondo-77, Nasarawa-72, Edo-69, Oyo-63, Rivers-52, Taraba-48, Ogun-44, Borno-31, Kwara-31, Ekiti-30, Benue-25, Kano-21, Niger-21, Kaduna-18, Abia-15, Delta-10, Bayelsa-7 and Zamfara-6, making a total of 1624 new cases of Coronavirus in the country.

There are now 105,229, 079 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2, 293,416 patients have lost their lives to the pandemic, while 58, 507,446 others have recovered and subsequently discharged. The world is now left with 44, 428, 217 active cases of Coronavirus, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.
According to the Centre, the United States remains the most affected, reporting 26,766, 400 confirmed cases, while 458,105 others have been killed by the virus in the US alone(123, 656 new and 3, 509 deaths*), followed by India which has reported 10, 802,591 confirmed cases, 154, 823 patients are no more, while 10, 496, 308 others have recovered, leaving India with 151, 460 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 408 new and 120 deaths*) and Brazil which has documented 9, 396,293 confirmed cases, 228, 795 patients are no more, while 8, 391,069 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 776, 429 active cases of Coronavirus(56,873 new and 1232 deaths*).
The United Kingdom has come up as the 4th country worst hit by the virus, reporting 3, 922,910 confirmations, 111,477 deaths, while only 10, 094 patients have been able to recover from the ailment, leaving the UK with 3, 801, 339 Coronavirus patients(19, 204 new and 1015 deaths*), followed by Russia which has reported 3, 891, 274 confirmed cases, 74, 520 lives have been lost to the virus, while 3, 375,999 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 440, 755 active cases of Coronavirus(16, 444 new and 515 deaths*) and France, now reporting 3, 355, 658 confirmations, 78, 749 patients have passed on while 237, 755 others have recovered, leaving France with 3,039, 154 active cases of Coronavirus(45, 182 new and 1006 deaths*).
Spain remains as the 7th country worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 2, 941, 990 confirmed cases, 61, 386 patients have passed on while 159, 376 others have been discharged, leaving Spain with 2, 721, 228 active cases of Coronavirus(28, 565 new and 584 deaths*), followed by Italy, now reporting 2, 611, 659 confirmed cases, 90, 618 patients are already dead, no thanks to Coronavirus, while 2, 091, 923 others have recovered, leaving Italy with 429, 118 active cases of Coronavirus(14, 213 new and 377 deaths*) and Turkey, which has documented 2, 516,889 confirmed cases, 26, 577 deaths while 2, 404, 416 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 85, 896 active cases of Coronavirus(7901 new and 110 deaths*).
Germany retained the 10th country worst hit, reporting 2, 276, 362 confirmed cases, 60, 843 deaths and 2, 022, 687 recoveries, leaving Germany with 192, 832 active cases of Coronavirus(10, 849 new and 776 deaths*) and South Africa, still the 15th country most hit, reporting 1, 470,516 confirmations, 45, 902 patients are already dead, while 1, 335,618 others have been treated and discharged, leaving South Africa with 88, 996 active cases of Coronavirus(3749 new 297 deaths*).
