ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A Traditional Priest in Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Nnamdi Nwawuo has declared that he has a divine mandate to succeed Willie Obiano as the governor of the state .
Nwawuo who is an aspirant under the platform of People Redemption Party (PRP) said he has decided to come out to contest for governorship position in fulfillment of the divine call to help the poor and the needy in the state .
Nwawuo who is the chief priest of Ayaya Shrine ,Nando made the declaration while addressing leadership of the women wing of the party in his country home, Nando . He said his venture into politics was an act of providence and that it was revealed to him about 25 years ago.
“After my secondary school , I moved to Abuja to get something doing and after sometime I became a transporter . Providence called upon me to come back home and serve my ancestors as a traditional priest, a call I hesitated to answer but later I answered the call owning to the pressure from unseen forces and subsequently become the chief priest of Ayaya shrine in Nando .
“Interestingly , my home coming to serve as a traditional priest turned out to be an era of dream come true in my life. Ever since, I came home , I have been making unprecedented progress in life and knowingly that it is consequent upon divine providence . I have been carrying the poor and the needy in my philanthropic services.
“Again , Providence has beckoned on me to join politics with a view to contributing my quota to development of Anambra state. This is the reason I have come to aspire to become the next governor of the state in 2021″ he said. Nwawuo said he has good plans to change the fortune of the state for the betterment of everybody .
” Under my administration, farmers will have good days in Anambra . I will enact a favourable policies in agriculture and ensure that farmers have access to necessary incentives , like seeds, tractors and soft loans to make sure that the state become the food basket of the nation, “he said.
He said he will end the ugly trend of revenue collections and activities of hoodlum associated with it through the engagement of professional revenue agents who will deploy digital means of revenue collection. He also assured of enhancing quality of education in the state through annual budgetary allocation to ensure that the sector regains it past glory .
“There is going to be annual allowance for each school for upkeep and they will account for it at the end of each year through ministry of education to my office. I will also equip all the general hospital in the state and ensure that functional equipment are provided for effective operation.
“I will also guarantee a water tight security in the state by providing all necessary equipment to the Nigeria police and other security agencies as well as ensuring strong community vigilante service to fight crime in the state ” he said.
He further said that 60 percent of his workforce would be youths and women. Nwawuo said that he will spend not less than 30 percent of the state resources on rural development because those in the area are having high rate of poverty, hunger and diseases. He also promised to serve the people with fear of God , truth , transparency and accountability .
