LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) has confirmed 1544 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 97,478. But out of the 97,478 all time cases, 78,552 patients have been treated successfully and discharged, while 1,342 others could not make it alive. Active cases in Nigeria has now risen to 17, 584.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-739, Plateau-168, FCT-153, Oyo-91, Nasarawa-90, Rivers-80, Kaduna-35, Edo-33, Kano-29, Ogun-21, Delta-19, Sokoto-16, Akwa Ibom-11, Ebonyi-11, Enugu-10, Osun-10, Niger-9, Bauchi-8, Kebbi-8, Katsina-2 and Taraba-1, making a total of 1544 new cases of Coronavirus.

There are now 88,589, 250 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 1, 907, 608 patients have already lost their lives while 49, 286, 925 others have been treated and discharged. The world is now left with 37, 394, 717 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the Centre, the United States remains the country worst hit by the virus, reporting 21, 776, 072 all time cases, 367,635 deaths(273, 068 new and 3417 deaths*), followed by India which has documented 10, 413, 417 confirmed cases, 150, 570 patients have lost their lives, while 10, 037, 398 others have recovered, leaving India with 225, 449 active cases of Coronavirus(18, 135 new and 234 deaths*) and Brazil which has reported 7, 961, 673 confirmations, 200, 498 deaths, while 7, 103, 297 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 657, 878 active cases of Coronavirus(87, 843 new and 1524 deaths*).
Russia has settled down as the 4th country worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 3, 321,163 all time cases, 60, 067 patients are no more, while 2, 702, 949 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 558, 147 active cases of Coronavirus(23, 330 new and 439 deaths*), followed by the United Kingdom, which has documented 2, 966, 203 all time infections, 79, 959 patients have been killed by the virus, while only 6, 580 patients have been treated successfully and discharged, leaving the UK with 2, 879, 664 Coronavirus patients to cater for(68, 299 new and 1327 deaths*) and France with 2,763, 563 confirmed cases, 66, 700 lives have been lost to the pandemic, while 204, 805 others have recovered, leaving France with 2, 492, 058 Coronavirus patients to treat(261 new cases*).
Turkey remains the 7th country worst hit by the pandemic, reporting, 2, 307, 581 confirmed cases, 22, 450 patients are already dead, while 2, 182, 145 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 102, 986 active cases of Coronavirus(11, 479 new cases and 186 deaths*), followed by Italy which has reported 2, 237, 890 all time cases, 77, 911 patients are no more, while 1, 589, 590 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Italy with 570, 389 active cases of Coronavirus(17, 529 new cases and 620 deaths*) and Spain which has registered 2, 050, 360 confirmations, 51, 874 deaths, while 150, 376 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Spain with 1, 848, 110 patients to treat for Coronavirus(25, 456 new cases 199 deaths*).
Germany remains the 10th country worst hit, reporting 1, 893, 901 confirmed cases, 39, 502 patients have been killed by the virus, while 1, 519,409 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Germany with 334, 990 active cases of Coronavirus(24, 639 new cases and 1198 deaths*) and South Africa now the 16th country worst hit by the virus, reporting 1, 192, 570 confirmed cases, 32, 425 patients are already dead, while 947, 919 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving South Africa with 212, 226 active cases of Coronavirus(21, 980 new cases and 616 deaths*).
