LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 1598 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 108, 943. But out of the 108, 943 confirmed cases, 85, 367 patients have been treated and discharged, while 1420 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 22, 156 active cases of Coronavirus.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-461, FCT-206, Plateau-197, Rivers-168, Kaduna-116, Anambra-53, Ogun-49, Ebonyi-47, Edo-42, Sokoto-32, Imo-31, Katsina-31, Oyo-30, Akwa Ibom-27, Delta-16, Kano-16, Abia-15, Niger-15, Ondo-11, Bayelsa-10, Borno-9, Kebbi-8, Ekiti-7 and Jigawa-1, making a total of 1598 new cases of Coronavirus in the country.

There are now 94,227,987 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2,016,860 people have been killed by the virus, while 51,899,939 others have been treated and discharged. There are now 40, 311, 188 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 23,644,885 confirmed cases, while 393,965 others have been killed by the virus(169, 505 new and 2867 deaths*), followed by India which has registered 10, 542,841 confirmed cases, 152, 093 patients are no more, while 10, 179,715 others have been treated and discharged, leaving India with 211, 033 active cases of Coronavirus(15, 158 new and 175 deaths*) and Brazil, which has reported 8, 393,492 confirmed cases, 208, 246 patients are already dead, while 7, 453,952 others have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving Brazil with 731, 294 active cases of Coronavirus(69, 198 new and 1151 deaths*).
Russia has retained its position as the 4th country most affected by the virus, reporting 3, 507,201 all time infections, 64, 134 deaths have been recorded, while 2, 905,972 patients have recovered, leaving Russia with 537, 095 active cases of Coronavirus(23, 670 new and 576 deaths*), followed by the United Kingdom, which has registered 3, 366, 988 all time infections, 88, 747 patients have lost their lives to the virus, while 7, 705 patients have been assisted to overcome the pandemic, leaving the UK with 3, 270, 536 Coronavirus patients to cater for(41, 352 new and 1299 deaths*) and France, reporting 2,931,683 confirmations, 70, 093 patients have been killed by the virus, while 213, 997 others have been treated and discharged, leaving France with 2, 647, 593 active cases of Coronavirus(33 new and 3 deaths*).
Turkey remains the 7th country worst hit with 2, 380,665 confirmed cases, 23, 832 patients are no more, while 2, 254,052 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 102, 781 active cases of Coronavirus(7550 new and 475 deaths*) and Italy which has reported 2, 368,733 confirmed cases, 81, 800 patients are already dead, while 1, 729, 216 others have recovered, leaving Italy with 557, 717 active cases of Coronavirus(16, 310 new*) and Spain which has reported 2, 252,164 confirmations, 53, 314 patients have been killed by the virus, while 150, 376 others have recovered, leaving Spain with 2,048, 474 Coronavirus patients.
Germany remains the 10th country worst hit, reporting 2,038,511 all time cases, 46, 461 patients have been killed by the virus, while 1, 680,439 others are now hale and hearty, leaving Germany with 311, 611 active cases of Coronavirus(14, 858 new and 756 deaths*) and South Africa, now the 16th country worst hit with 1, 325,659 confirmed cases, 36, 851 patients have passed on while 1, 083,978 others have been treated and discharged, leaving South Africa with 204, 830 active cases of Coronavirus(13, 973 new and 384 deaths*).
