LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 1861 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 126,160. But out of the 126,160 confirmed cases, 100, 365 patients have been discharged, while 1544 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 24, 251 active cases of Coronavirus, making Nigeria the 75th most affected country globally.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-773, FCT-285, Oyo-138, Rivers-111, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-83, Kaduna-59, Enugu-57, Imo-57, Edo-43, Kano-27, Kwara-20, Ebonyi-19, Abia-17, Ogun-12, Osun-12, Katsina-8, Bayelsa-6, Bauchi-5, Delta-5, Borno-4, Jigawa-4 and Zamfara-1, making a total of 1861 new cases of Coronavirus.

Globally, there are now 100,866,032 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2, 173,965 patients have lost their lives, while 55, 745,011 others have recovered. There are now 42, 947, 056 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide based on the latest statistics uploaded by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted, now reporting 25, 595,999 confirmed cases, while 429, 195 patients have lost their lives(209, 403 new and 5031deaths*), followed by India which has documented 10,689,527 all time cases, 153, 847 patients have passed on, while 10, 359,305 others have recovered, leaving India with 176, 375 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 689 new and 260 deaths*) and Brazil which has documented 8, 996,876 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 220, 161 deaths, while 7, 964,176 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 812, 539 active cases of Coronavirus(125, 483 new and 2497deaths*).
Russia remains the 4th country most affected, reporting 3, 733,692 confirmed cases, 69,971 patients have died while 3, 168,370 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 495, 351 active cases of Coronavirus(17, 464 new and 580 deaths*), followed by the United Kingdom which has reported 3, 725,637 all time infections, 102, 085 deaths, while 9, 246 patients have been assisted to recovery, leaving the UK with 3,614, 306 active cases of Coronavirus (25, 402 new and 1727 deaths*) and France with 3, 165,449 confirmations, 74, 600 patients are no more, while 226, 685 others have been treated and discharged, leaving France with 2, 864, 164 active cases of Coronavirus(27, 000 new and 352 deaths*).
Spain has come up as the 7th country most hit by the pandemic, reporting 2, 670, 102 confirmations, 57, 291 patients have lost their lives, while 150, 376 others have been discharged, leaving Spain with 2, 462, 435 active cases of Coronavirus(40, 285 new and 497 deaths*), followed by Italy which has reported 2, 501, 147 confirmed cases, 86, 889 patients have lost their lives to the virus, while 1, 936,289 others have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving Italy with 477, 969 active cases of Coronavirus(15, 191 new and 467 deaths*) and Turkey which has documented 2, 449,839 confirmed cases, 25, 478 patients are no more, while 2, 331,314 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 93, 047 active cases of Coronavirus(7489 new and 134 deaths*).
Germany remains the 10th country worst hit and it has confirmed 2, 179,679 all time cases, 54, 498 deaths, while 2, 043,773 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving Germany with 81, 408 active cases of Coronavirus(15,901 new and 879 deaths*) and South Africa still the 15th most affected country, reporting 1, 430,648 confirmed cases, 42, 550 patients have died from the virus, while 1, 263,476 others have been treated and discharged, leaving South Africa with 124, 622 active cases of Coronavirus(7070 new and 753 deaths*) and China now the 81 most hit country with 99, 655 confirmations, 4811 deaths and 92, 078 recoveries, leaving China with about 2, 766 active cases.
