LAGOS, Nigeria – The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has suspended its indefinite strike  with an apology for the inconvenience the strike may have caused students and parents.

ASUU however offered to suspend the strike after the Federal Government met some of the demands of the union. The Federal Government agreed to exempt university teachers from the contentious Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

In addition, the Federal Government also agreed to pay N65 billion to the universities to address earned academic allowances and revitalisation of universities.

ASUU requested for  about 228 billion to addressed earned academic allowances and  revitalisation of universities across the federation.

“ASUU STRIKE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED!! The Union apologize for all inconvenience caused to students and parents”, the union announced on its twitter handle.

Earlier, ASSU had urge all 300L, 400l, and final year students to keep being studious while at home.

“Don’t just relax, go back to your books start reading because, when school resume, it’s most likely that, exams might commence immediately” ASUU warned.
