ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – It was a moment to reckon with as supporters and associates of Dr. Godwin Maduka gathered in Awka at the weekend to give a rousing and triumphant welcome to a man who has positively impacted on the lives of many people in Anambra state and beyond.
The founder of Dr.Godwin Maduka foundation, Dr Godwin Maduka came into the city of Awka to commission his foundation designed to lift youths and indigent people out of poverty to greater height .
Dr. Maduka who is one of governorship hopeful in the state under the platform of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), came late to the venue but this did not deter people from waiting in order to give rousing welcome to the man who has changed their lives.
Maduka who arrived Awka from Abuja through the Asaba airport late in evening was warmly welcomed by his teeming supporters and associates made up of different groups in the state . Among the groups include the traders vanguard for Dr Maduka, Students for Maduka,and Fans of Maduka and numerous associations.
We gathered that Maduka on his way to Awka had a brief stop over at the new zone 13 Police headquarters at Ukpo , on a courtesy visit to the AIG Danmallam Mohammed and his officers over destruction of police stations and lost lives of members of the Nigeria Police Force in the state during the EndSARS protest.
He sympathized with the AIG and police for their losses and promised that his foundation would help in any way it can. He then headed to Awka to commission his new foundation office where he was warmly received by a mammoth of supporters.
Commissioning the foundation, Dr. Goodwin Maduka stated that his greatest joy was seeing youths being meaningful engaged and that he is committing himself to building capacities for the youths.
Dr. Maduka who holds a PhD in pharmacy and Medicine said the foundation was designed to give hope to the youths especially the less privileged ones in the society.
“I will make sure that youths are gainfully engaged in Anambra State. It gives me joy seeing the youngsters waking up in the morning and having something doing. I have been training these youths in various institutions across the world over the years.
“I will continue to build capacity among the youths so that when they wake up in the morning they will have something doing to become responsible citizens” he said.
According to him, the Dr. Godwin Maduka Foundation was primarily meant for youths development and has been doing that by giving youths jobs and training .
“The purpose of the foundation is to give hope to the Nigerians youths . The foundation trains and retains youths in various professions and we give them scholarships to study in various institutions across the world” he said.
