BENIN, Edo, Nigeria – Wife of the Edo State Deputy Governor, Mrs Maryann Shaibu, has said that the next four years of the Obaseki’s administration will be the most eventful in the history of Edo State in terms of developmental strides and passion for service.
According to her, Edo State has chosen the path of development by voting for Politics of development and the current administration can’t perform below the public expectations.
“We made promises and we are resolute in seeing all of these promises being fulfilled in the lives of every one in the State, irrespective of their area of trade or endeavours.
The wife of the Deputy Governor stated this today, October 13, during a “Thank You” tour to Owan West Local Government, Akoko Edo Local Government and Etsako West Local Government, for their massive support in the just concluded Governorship election in Edo State.
She maintained that transforming Edo State into a Mega, prosperous and economically viable geo-political entity, where equitable distribution of its human resources are harnessed to promote even development, will be the hallmark of the next four years of the administration.
“I came to you people in your various local Governments and I appealed to you all for your support. You all indeed came out and stood by us all through the election period despite the threat and intimidation you didn’t deny us and I made a promise to return back to you people for a thank you visit.
“I am here today to fulfill my promise. We are not promise breakers. Just as you all stood with us across the state this Government will stand and defend public interest. You are all stakeholders in a democratic process and you can’t be deprived of needed development. Governor Obaseki is not a wasteful Governor. He will serve you and the people of the State faithfully”.
Speaking further she said: “Never again will the people of Edo State be taken for granted by any individual. We have shown the World that we are a Unique people with a United voice.
“Obaseki has moved Edo away from strong men to strong and functional institutions by Making Edo great again. Strengthening of institutions and not individuals will continue to be the hall mark of the Obaseki government. Governor Obaseki has built a State where institutions of government supervene. Edo needs strong institutions that can make the leap to ensure that individual’s participation in governance is made possible through collective action and tangible improvements in people’s lives”.
Mrs Shaibu promise that the in-coming administration will continue to show readiness in achieving a reversal of Edo’s long slide towards degradation.
The thank you visit is expected to continue on Wednesday, October 14, to Etsako Central, Owan East and Etsako East local Governments all in Edo North.
