LAGOS, Nigeria – The hitherto peaceful #endSARS movement turned violent on Wednesday after the Lekki massacre by Nigerian Army, with members targeting properties of the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and those of Lagos State and the Federal Government.
The movement ignored the 72 hours curfew and went after properties in revenge. Among properties torched were the Lekki Tollgate, the scene of the massacre, Nigerian Port Authority Headquarters in Marina, properties in the shared office of Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, Ojodu.
Also set alight were buses in the fleet of LAGBUS in Ojodu, Fleet of buses purchased by former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode in their garage, home of the mother of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu In Surulere, head office of the Television Continental, TVC, at the old Lagos tollgate, the Nation Newspaper head office at Matori, Ladipo, Lagos, a Police Station at Orile, LASTMA office in Lagos and other properties.
The #endSARS protest we gathered targeted Tinubu’s properties believing that he ordered the putting off of the lights and removal of CCTV at the Lekki tollgate before the army unleashed mayhem on members of the endSARS protest in Lekki.
Not less than 24 private and government properties were torched.
Also torched is BRT Terminal, Oyingbo – New Buses set on fire, recreational Center, Oregun, Lagos, Oba’s Palace, Lagos – burnt to ashes. His scepter of authority seized, Kings College, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos burnt, banks, Ajeromi Local Govt Secretariat, Lagos-Island Local Govt destroyed, Lagos-Island East LCDA Secretariat set on fire.
Others are Lagos Mainland Local Govt Secretariat Destroyed, Ibeju Lekki LCDA Secretariat destroyed and Sanwoolu’s Uncle’s house on Lagos Island, Lagoon Hospital, Liverpool, Apapa, Lagos City Hall, branches of Access and Gtbank among others.
