LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 453 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of  in the country to 46,140.

Out of the 46, 140 confirmed cases, 33,044 patients have been discharged, while 942 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 12, 154 active cases of the pandemic.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Abuja-75, Lagos-71, Benue-53, Delta-39, Borno-30,  Enugu-25, Plateau-24, Osun-20, Abia-19, Oyo-17, Kaduna-16, Kano-13, Ebonyi-13, Ogun-9, , Kwara-7,  Ondo-6, Gombe-3,  Ekiti-2,  Akwa Ibom-1 and  Rivers-1, making a total of 453 new cases of Coronavirus.

However,  there are now 19, 481, 330 confirmed cases globally while 723, 599 others have kicked the bucket. A total of 11, 801, 847 others have recovered,  the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.

According to the centre, the United States remains number one in the ranks of most afflicted countries, reporting 4, 986, 345 confirmed cases, 162, 244 deaths, while 1,623, 870 others have been able to recover, leaving the United States with 3, 200, 231 active cases of the pandemic(69, 295 new cases), followed by Brazil(2) which has documented 2, 962, 442 confirmed cases, 99, 572 deaths, while 2, 281, 074 patients have been discharged, leaving Brazil with 581, 796 active cases of the virus(50, 230 new cases), followed by India(3), which has reported 2, 088, 611 confirmed cases,  42, 518 deaths, while 1, 427,005 patients have recovered, leaving India with 619, 088 active cases of the virus(61, 537 new cases in the last 24 hours).

Russia(4) is next with 880, 563 cases, 14, 827 deaths, while 688, 856 others been able to recover, leaving Russia with 176, 880 active cases of the pandemic, followed by South Africa(5) which has documented 553, 188 cases, 10, 210 deaths, while 404, 568 others have been able to recover, leaving South Africa with 138, 410 active cases(15,004 new cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Mexico(6) with 469, 407 confirmed cases, 51, 311 deaths, while 370,098 others have been  discharged, leaving Mexico with 47,998 active cases, followed by Peru(7) which has documented 463, 875 confirmed cases, 20, 649 deaths, while 314, 332 patients have been discharged, leaving Peru with 128, 894 active cases of the pandemic, followed by Chile(8) with 371, 023 confirmed cases,  10,011 deaths, while 344, 133 others have been able to recover, leaving Chile with 16, 879 active cases.

Colombia(9) is next with 367, 204 confirmed cases, 12, 250 deaths while 198,495 patients have been discharged, leaving Colombia with 156, 459 active cases of Coronavirus. Iran(10) is next with 324, 692 confirmed cases, 18, 264 deaths, while 282, 122 patients have recovered, leaving Iran with 24, 306 active cases, followed by Spain(11 in the ranks of affected countries), which has confirmed 314,362 confirmed cases, 28, 503 deaths, while 150, 376 patients have recovered, leaving Spain with 135, 483 active cases of the pandemic, followed by  the United Kingdom with 311,461 confirmed cases,  46, 651 deaths, while only 1, 450 patients have been able to recover, leaving  the U.K with  263, 360 active cases of the pandemic(794 new cases and 55 deaths in the last 24 hours) and then Italy(16) with 250,103 confirmed cases, 35, 203 deaths, while 201, 947 patients have recovered,  leaving Italy with 12, 953 active cases of the pandemic(374 new cases and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours) and then China in the 29th spot in the ranks of most affected countries.

China has documented 88, 649 cases, 4, 681 deaths, while 81, 962 patients have recovered, leaving China with 2,006 active cases of the pandemic.
