LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 603 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total cases in the country to 28, 167.

A breakdown of the new cases in the country showed that 135 cases were found in Lagos, 87 in Edo, 73 in Abuja, 67 in Rivers, 62 in Delta,  47 in Ogun, 20 in Kaduna, 19 in Plateau, 17 in Osun, 16 in Ondo, 15 in Enugu, 15 in Oyo, 13 in Borno,  6 in Niger, 4 in Nasarawa, 3 in Kebbi, 2 in Kano, 1 in Sokoto and 1 in Abia State, making a total of 603 cases.

Globally, there are currently 11, 159, 856 confirmed cases of Coronavirus while 527, 827 others are dead based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still remains leader among the most affected countries, reporting 2, 830, 856 cases, while 129, 641 others have been killed by the pandemic; 42, 461 new cases and 335 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Brazil which has documented 1, 539, 081 cases while 63, 174 patients have been killed by the pandemic; no new case but 1,290 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Russia, now the most affected country in Europe has reported 673, 564 confirmed cases while 10,011 patients have been killed by the pandemic, followed by India with 648, 315 cases, while 18, 655 patients have been killed by the pandemic; 22,771 new cases and 442 deaths, followed by Peru which has documented 295, 599 confirmed cases, while 10, 226 patients have died.

Chile is next with 288,089 cases of Coronavirus with 6,051 deaths, followed by the United Kingdom which has suffered the highest casualty in Europe. The U.K. has documented 286,412 cases, while 44, 283 patients have been killed by the pandemic; 625 new cases and 67 deaths in the last 24 hours.

There are presently 250, 545 confirmed cases  in Spain, while 28, 385 others have been killed by the pandemic, followed by Italy with 241, 419 confirmed cases with 34, 854 deaths. France,   another hot spot for the pandemic in Europe occupies the 14th spots among most affected countries, reporting 204, 222 cases with 29, 896 deaths and then China, where the pandemic was first reported.

China, which is the 22nd most affected country in the world has documented 84, 850 confirmed cases with 4, 641 deaths, while 79, 700 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 509 cases, but no death in the last 24 hours.
