LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 575 new cases of Coronavirus bringing the total number in Nigeria to 31, 323 cases.

Out of the 31, 323 cases, 12,795 Nigerians have been discharged, while 709 others have been killed by the virus.

A breakdown of the 575 new cases is as follows: Lagos-224, Oyo-85, FCT-68, Rivers-49, Kaduna-39, Edo-31, Enugu-30, Delta-11, Niger-10, Katsina-9, Ebonyi-5, Gombe-3,  Jigawa-3, Plateau-2, Nassarawa-2, Borno-2, Kano-1 and Abia-1, making a total of 575 new cases.

Globally, there are 12, 439,087 confirmed cases,  558, 562 others have been killed by the pandemic, while 6, 827, 859 others have recovered based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

The United States still leads among the most affected countries in the world, reporting 3, 173, 446, while 133, 940 people have died; 65, 305 new cases,  and 745 deaths in the last 24 hours,  followed by Brazil with 1, 800, 827 cases,  70, 398 deaths; 87, 667 new cases and 1,214 deaths in the last 24 hours,  followed by India with 793, 802 cases and 21, 604 deaths; 26, 506 new cases and 475 deaths in the last 24 hours and then Russia with 712, 863 confirmed cases and 11, 000 deaths; 6,623 new cases and 174 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Next is Peru with 319, 646 cases and 11, 500 deaths,  followed by Chile with 309, 274 cases and 6, 781 deaths, followed by the United Kingdom which has documented  289,677 cases with 44, 735 deaths;  523 new cases and 48 deaths in the last 24 hours  and then Mexico with 282, 283 confirmed cases of Coronavirus while 33, 526 others have passed on followed by Spain with 253, 908 cases with 28, 403 deaths, followed by Iran with 252, 720 cases, while  12, 447 Iranians have been killed.

Next is South Africa, which has moved into the top 12 most affected countries, reporting  250, 687 cases while 3, 860 patients have passed on followed by Pakistan with 243, 599 cases while 5, 058 people have been killed by the virus, followed by Italy with 242, 639 confirmed cases and 34, 938 deaths and Saudi Arabia with 226, 486 confirmed cases, while 2, 151 people have died and then Turkey with 210, 965 cases with 5,323 deaths, followed by France with 208,014 cases, with 30,007 deaths and then China now 23rd in the ranks of most affected countries with 84, 992, confirmed cases and 4, 641 deaths, no new case in the last 24 hours and no deaths in the last one week.
