LAGOS, Nigeria – Queries have continued to trail the June 13 concert at Jabi Lake Mall, Abuja put together for Nigeria’s rave of the moment, Naira Marley.

This controversy is taking place after Naira Marley narrowly escaped sanctions in Lagos after being caught in a live video at Funke Akindele’s  birthday party, also during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Naira Marley, whose real names are AbdulAzeez Fashola flew into Abuja via Executive Jet Services,  at a time when flights remain grounded in Nigeria, no thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown.

However, a major non-governmental organisation in Nigeria, CLEEN Foundation has raised queries which operators of Executive Jet Services and the Ministry of Aviation must answer in a research carried out in Abuja and the 774 local governments in Nigeria.

Using the Naira Marley and Executive Jet saga as one of the case studies, the foundation noted that about 54% of  observers noted low and moderate compliance to government ban on public gathering.

The observers noted that gathering of more than 20 persons against government directives were taking place across the 36 states and FCT.

According to CLEEN Foundation, in the FCT, a music concert was held  on Saturday 13th June 2020 at the Jabi Lake Mall featuring Naira Marley, who flew in from Lagos in a private jet.  According to the report, although a mobile court has sealed the Mall for two weeks, there are some issues that are yet to be answered.

“Who authorised the movement of the Executive Airline Services from Lagos to Abuja and back? Who approved the music concert under COVID-19 pandemic?

“The Ministry of Aviation and Federal Capital Territory Administration should address Nigerians on who authorised the concert in Abuja despite the lockdown on interstate travel and restriction of air travel”, the report queried.

Reacting to the development, Naira Marley said, the operators asked for their names before they boarded and that the plane almost crashed.

“Lool they asked for our names on the jet though and looooooooool ur pilot is a Marlian and everybody there is a Marlian too”, he said, stressing,  “my name is Azeez Adeshina Fashola and my lil brothers name is Moshood Babatunde Fashola…. Do u know that over 20,000 Marlians travel with executive jet a month.

“We won’t be using ur airline again for calling us useless”, Naira Marley said.
