Gov Godwin Obaseki graduated from UI – Alumni association
LAGOS, Nigeria – Edo State Governor, Dr. Godwin Obaseki who is battling to grab the ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) party ahead of the September Governorship poll is after all an alumnus of the University of Ibadan, President University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide, Professor Elsie Adewoye has said.
Professor Elsie Adewoye made the remarks following spirited efforts made by political opponents to discredit the governor, whom national Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is desperate to remove from office.
But in a press statement, Professor Adewoye debunked the story making the rounds that Godwin Obaseki is not a graduate of the university.
According to him, Dr. Godwin Obaseki studied Classics from the University of Ibadan and that he gained admission into the university in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with Second Class Honours, Lower Division.

While wondering, why the controversy should arise at this time, he said the records of his admission and graduation are intact in the university archives, hence he was unanimously selected to deliver the 2018 Alumni association lecture, held third of August 2018.
He said Obaseki was honoured during the presidency of Odiega Dr. Kemi A. Emina by the association as the Associations Most Distinquished Alumnus MDA for his overall contribution to the growh of the Edo State before and after taking the reigns of office.
According to him, Obaseki, Godwin Nogheghase has S1:19512 as Matriculation Number at the University of Ibadan.
