LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 490 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of the pandemic in the country to 24, 567.

Out of the total of 24, 567 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 9,007 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, while 565 others could not make it alive.

A breakdown of the 490 new cases showed that 118 cases were found in Lagos, 84 in Delta, 68 in Ebonyi,  56 in Abuja, 39 in Plateau, 29 in Edo, 21 in Katsina, 13 in  Imo, 12 in Ondo, 11 in Adamawa, 8 in Osun, 8 in Ogun, 6 in Rivers, 5 in Kano, 3 in Enugu, 3 in Bauchi, 3 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kogi, 1 in Oyo and 1 in Bayelsa, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Coronavirus by States in Nigeria

Globally, there are now 10, 063, 319 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 500,306 patients have been killed by the pandemic based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still maintains the top spot among the most affected countries in the world, reporting 2, 539,544 confirmed cases, while 125, 763 patients have died; 38, 300 new cases and 328 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Brazil, which has documented 1, 313,667 confirmed cases with 57,070 deaths; 38, 693 new cases and 1,109 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Russia, which is currently the most affected country in Europe.

Russia has reported 633, 542 confirmed cases and 9,060 deaths. India is next, reporting 528,859 confirmed cases, while 16,095 patients have been killed by the pandemic in India;  19,906 new cases with 2,457 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by the United Kingdom, which has recorded 312, 640 confirmed cases of the pandemic, while 43, 634 patients have been killed by the virus in the U.K. alone –  913 new cases and 36 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Peru, another country in South America has recorded 275, 989 confirmed cases and 9, 317 deaths, followed by Chile also in South America. Chile has recorded 271, 982 confirmed cases, while 5,509 patients have passed on, followed by Spain, which has recorded 248,770 confirmed cases, while 28, 343 patients have been killed by the pandemic.

Italy, the first country to report the pandemic in Europe now has 240, 310 confirmed cases,  while 34, 738 patients could not make it alive and then China, where the pandemic was first reported.

China has been pushed to the 22nd position behind Qatar and Colombia among nations most affected by the pandemic. China currently has 84, 745 confirmed cases, 4,641 deaths, while 79, 601 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 503 cases, up by two cases, but no death in the last 24 hours.
