LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 649 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 22,020 cases.
According to NCDC, out of the 22,020 confirmed cases in Nigeria, 7,613 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged while 542 others have died.
However, a breakdown of the new cases showed that 250 new cases were found in Lagos, 100 in Oyo, 40 in Plateau, 40 in Delta, 28 in Abia, 27 in Kaduna, 22 in Ogun, 20 in Edo, 18 in Akwa Ibom, 17 in Kwara, 17 in Abuja, 14 in Enugu, 13 in Niger, 13 in Adamawa, 7 in Bayelsa, 6 in Osun, 6 in Bauchi, 4 in Anambra, 3 in Gombe, 2 in Sokoto, 1 in Imo and 1 in Kano State, the NCDC said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are now 9, 343, 448 confirmed cases, while 479,496 patients have died from Coronavirus, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland has said.
The United States still remains in the lead among the most afflicted nations worldwide, reporting 2, 369,906 confirmed cases with 121,870 deaths, followed by Brazil, which has confirmed 1, 145, 906 cases while 52, 645 patients have died from the pandemic.
Brazil has recorded 39, 436 new cases and 1,374 deaths in the last 24 hours John Hopkins University has said.
Russia, the most affected country in Europe in terms of population has reported 606, 043 confirmed cases with 8, 503 deaths, followed by India 456, 183 confirmed cases, while 14, 476 patients have passed on.
The United Kingdom, which has reported the highest number of deaths in Europe has documented 308, 334 confirmed cases with 43, 165 deaths, followed by Peru with 260, 810 confirmed cases with 8, 586 deaths, followed by Chile with 254, 416 cases and 4, 731 deaths.
Spain is next with 247,086 confirmed cases while 28, 327 patients have died, followed by Italy with 239, 410 cases and 34, 644 deaths. China where the pandemic was first reported has been pushed down to the 21st most affected country in the world, reporting 84, 658 confirmed cases, 4, 640 deaths, while 79, 559 patients have recovered and discharged, leaving China with 459 cases, up by 11 cases but no death in the last 24 hours.
