Coronavirus in Nigeria: 20,919 as cases hit 9,036, 002 globally see table

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 675 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of the pandemic in Nigeria to 20,919.

Out of the 20, 919 cases,  7,109 patients have recovered and therefore discharged from the isolation centres, while 525 others could not make it alive.

But a breakdown of the of the 675 new cases shows that 288 cases were found in Lagos, 76 in Oyo, 56 in River, 31 in Delta, 30 in Ebonyi, 28 in Gombe, 20 in Ondo, 20 in Kaduna, 20 in Kwara, 17 in Ogun,  16  in Abuja, 13 in Edo, 10 in Abia, 9 in Nasarawa, 9 in Imo, 8 in Bayelsa, 8 in Borno, 8 in Katsina, 3 in Sokoto, 3 in Bauchi and 2 in Plateau State, making a total of 675 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are now 9, 036, 002 confirmed cases while 470,016 patients have died bases on current statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States leads affected nations with 2,305,950 confirmed cases with 120, 350 deaths, followed by Brazil, which has confirmed 1, 083,341 cases with 50, 591 deaths.

Brazil recorded 17,008 new cases and 615 deaths in the last 24 hours, the centre has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Brazil.

Next is Russia, the most affected country in Europe. Russia has confirmed 591,465 cases, while 8, 196 patients have passed on, followed by India, which has confirmed 425, 282 cases of Coronavirus with 13, 699 deaths and then the United Kingdom which has documented 306, 761 cases, while 42, 731 people have died.

Next is Peru, which has confirmed 257, 447 cases with 8,223deaths, followed by Spain with 246, 504 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while  28, 324 patients have passed on, followed by  Italy with 238, 720 confirmed cases with 34, 657 deaths and then China where the pandemic was first reported.

China, now in the 21st position in the ranks of affected countries behind South Africa and Qatar has 84, 610 confirmed cases, 4, 639 deaths, while 79, 536 patients have recovered, leaving China with 435 cases, up by 52 cases in the last 24 hours but no death.
