LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 667 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of the pandemic in the country to 19,147, while Brazil has recorded 54, 771 new cases and 1, 197 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Out of the total 19, 247 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 6,581 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 487 others could not make it alive.
A breakdown of the 667 new cases revealed that 281 cases were found in Lagos, 48 in Abia, 45 in Oyo, 38 in Abuja, 37 in Ogun, 31 in Enugu, 23 in Ondo, 21 in Plateau, 19 in Edo, 18 in Delta, 18 in River, 17 in Bayelsa, 17 in Akwa Ibom, 14 in Kaduna, 12 in Kano, 9 in Bauchi, 4 in Gombe, 3 in Osun, 3 in Benue, 3 in Nasarawa, 2 in Ekiti and 1 in Borno, making a total of 667 cases, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

“ NCDC @NCDCgov 667 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-281, Abia-48, Oyo-45, FCT-38, Ogun-37, Enugu-31, Ondo-23, Plateau-21, Edo-19, Delta-18, Rivers-18, Bayelsa-17, Akwa Ibom-17, Kaduna-14, Kano-12, Bauchi-9, Gombe-4, Osun-3, Benue-3, Nasarawa-3, Kwara-3, Ekiti-2, Borno-1: 19,147 confirmed ; 6,581 discharged; 487 deaths” NCDC said in a statement.
Globally, there are currently 8, 628, 403 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 458, 676 deaths based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland. According to the centre, the United States still leads among the most affected nations in the world, reporting 2, 218, 457 cases, with 119, 061 deaths, followed by Brazil which has a new peak of 1, 032, 913 cases, while 48, 954 others have passed on.
But there are 54, 771 new cases and 1, 197 deaths in the last 24 hours, John Hopkins University said of new cases of Coronavirus in Brazil.
Next is Russia, which is the most affected country in Europe based on the population so far afflicted. Russia has documented 568, 292 confirmed cases with 7,832 deaths, followed by India with 380, 532 confirmed cases with 12, 573 deaths.
The United Kingdom is next with 303, 281 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 42, 546 patients have passed on, followed by Spain, which has reported 245, 575 confirmed cases of the pandemic, while 28, 315 patients have died.
Next in line is Peru, which has documented a total of 244, 388 confirmed cases with 7, 461 deaths, followed by Italy, which has reported 238, 011 confirmed cases, while 34, 561 patients have passed on, followed by China, which has moved into the 21st position in the rank of most affected countries in the world, behind South Africa and Qatar.
China, where the pandemic was first reported has documented 84, 494 confirmed cases with 4, 638 deaths, while 79, 515 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 341 cases, up by 28 cases in the last 24 hours.
