LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 587 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 17,735.
But out of the 17, 735 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 5, 967 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 469 others have passed on.
A breakdown of the 587 new cases shows that 155 cases were discovered in Lagos, 75 in Edo, 67 in Abuja, 65 in River, 56 in Oyo, 50 in Delta, 25 in Bayelsa, 18 in Plateau, 18 in Kaduna, 17 in Enugu, 12 in Borno, 12 in Ogun, 7 in Ondo, 4 in Kwara, 2 in Kano, 2 in Gombe, 1 in Sokoto and 1 in Kebbi State, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are 8, 317,075 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 447, 581 patients have died based on new figures from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States still maintains the lead among the most affected countries in the world, reporting 2, 159, 446 confirmed cases with 117,663 deaths, followed by Brazil which has documented 955, 377 confirmed cases with 46, 510 deaths.
Brazil has recorded 32, 188 new cases and 1,269 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Russia, the most affected country in Europe has documented 552, 549 confirmed cases, while 7, 468 patients have passed on, followed by India, with 354, 065 confirmed cases with 11, 903 deaths and then the United Kingdom with 300, 717 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 42, 238 patients were not lucky to come out alive.
Spain, the next most affected has documented 244, 683 confirmed cases with 27, 136 deaths, followed by Peru, which has just jumped into the top 6.
Peru has reported 240,908 cases of the pandemic with 7, 257 deaths before Italy which has documented 237, 828 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 34, 448 deaths and then China which has been pushed into the 19th most affected country.
China has documented 84, 434 confirmed cases, 4, 638 deaths, while 79, 496 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 300 cases, up by 51 new cases in the last 24 hours.
