LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 627 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic, bringing the total number of Coronavirus in Nigeria to 15181.

Out of the 15, 181 cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, 4891 patients have recovered and therefore discharged from the various isolation centres, while 399 others could not come out alive.

A breakdown of the 627 new cases showed that 229 of the new cases were discovered in Lagos, 65 in Abuja,  54 in Abia, 42 in Borno, 35 in Oyo, 28 in Rivers, 28 in Edo, 27 in Gombe, 21 in Ogun, 18 in Plateau, 18 in Delta, 10 in Bauchi, 10 in Kaduna, 9 in Benue, 8 in Ondo, 6 in Kwara, 4 in Nasarawa, 4 in Enugu, 3 in Sokoto, 3 in Niger, 3 in Kebbi, 1 in Yobe and 1 in Kano, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are now 7, 617, 591 cases of Coronavirus, while 424, 587 others have died based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still maintains the lead in the committee of most affected nations, reporting 2, 043, 656 confirmed cases, while 114, 471 patients have kicked the bucket, followed by Brazil, which has reported  a new peak of 828,810 confirmed cases, 41, 828 deaths. Brazil recorded 25, 982 new cases and 909 deaths in the last 24 hours, closely followed by Russia, which now has 510, 761 confirmed cases, while 6, 705 patients have passed on.

Next is India, which has shut ahead of the United Kingdom with 297, 535 confirmed cases with 8, 498 deaths and then the United Kingdom, which still has the highest casualty figures in Europe. 

The United Kingdom has confirmed a total 294, 402 cases, with 41, 586 deaths, followed by Spain with 243, 209 confirmed cases and 27, 136 deaths, followed by Italy with 236, 305 confirmed cases with 34, 223 deaths.

China, where the Coronavirus was first reported currently has 84, 220 confirmed cases and 4,638 deaths, while 79, 469 patients have recovered, leaving China with 113 cases.
