Maigida Charity Foundation provides succour for Ogbomosho residents

OGBOMOSHO, Oyo, Nigeria – The Maigida Charity Foundation during the week provided succour in the form of palliatives to over one million residents of Ogbomoso to cushion the effect of the lockdown as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has killed over 200 people in Nigeria.

Founded by Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida, items made availabe to residents throug the Palace of Onpetu include Rice, Gari, Semovita, Semolina, grandnut oil and noodles.

In a message to the people during the distribution exercise penultimate Monday, the Onpetu of Ijeruland, His Royal Magesty, Oba Sunday Adedapo Oyediran thanked the foundation and Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke for his gestures in responding to his request to provide palliatives for residents. He prayed that God should intercede on behalf of all nations and see to the end of this global pandemic.

Media Consultant to the Foundation, Adegboyega Ogunosun, in a statement in Ogbomoso on Thursday noted that sequel to consultations with its board of trustees, the Chairman, Chief Badmus Gbadamosi, and prominent traditional ruler, the Onpetu of Ijeruland, Oba Adedapo Sunday Oyediran, as well as a Community leader, Engr Dayo Lawal, the founder, Dr Samson Adewale Adegoke, approved the procurements of the palliative, advising that residents of Ogbomoso, as many as possible should be made to enjoy the largesse without tribal or religious sentiments.

Among the beneficiaries are the Centre for the Blind, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Muslim Societies of Nigeria. Others were the security agencies in Ogbomoso and peasant farmers.

The programme which commenced on Monday, May 18, ended on Friday, May 22, 2020 amidst accolades and prayers for Dr Samson Adewale Adegoke and the Maigida Charity Foundation.

It is on record that the Maigida Charity Foundation since it’s inception eight years ago has remained focused and consistent in the areas of providing scholarship for indigent students, empowerment for widows, and providing grants to artisans and upcoming entrepreneurs.
