LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 276 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8344.

Out of the total of 8344 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 2385 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged while 249 others could not make it alive.

However, a breakdown of the 276 new cases of the pandemic shows that 161 new cases were found in Lagos, 36 in Rivers, 27 in Edo, 19 in Kaduna, 10 in Nasarawa, 6 in Oyo, 4 in Kano, 3 in Delta, 3 in Ebonyi, 2 in Gombe, 1 in Ogun, 1 in Borno, 1 in Abia State and 1 in Bauchi, the NDDC said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are 5, 559, 130 confirmed cases with 348, 610 deaths based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still tops the league of most affected countries based on population infected and the total number of deaths. The US currently has 1, 679, 419 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 98, 852 patients have died from the pandemic.

Following the US is Brazil, which currently has 374, 898 confirmed cases of the pandemic with 23, 473 deaths, followed by Russia, the most affected country in Europe in terms of population infected. Russia currently has 362, 342 confirmed cases of the pandemic, while 3,807 patients have died from the virus, followed by the United Kingdom, which has suffered the highest number of deaths in Europe.

The UK currently has 266, 596 confirmed cases of the virus, while 37, 130 patients have died from the pandemic, followed by Spain, with 236, 259 confirmed cases, while 27, 117 patients could not make it alive. Italy has 230, 555 confirmed cases with 32, 955 deaths.

China, where the pandemic was first reported has been pushed into the 14th spot of most affected countries in the world with 84,102 confirmed cases, 4,638 deaths, while 79, 356 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with just 108 cases of Coronavirus.
