ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra state chapter has accused governor Willie Obiano of setting up political structure in 326 wards in the state under guise of COVID-19 searching task force.

The party in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Okelo Madukaife and made available to news men in Awka, Anambra state on Tuesday said the party is   not impressed by the setting up of ‘political’ structures in the guise of searching for COVID-19 cases in Anambra’s 326 wards.

APC said ,settings up the COVID-19 searching team , when infected persons can successfully travel into Anambra State from Kano and other places and  was a misplaced action. The party also expressed sadness over the death of one person, due to COVID-19 in the state.

“We pray God for the repose of his soul and solicit God’s comfort of the bereaved family.  We however wish to dissuade Gov. Willie Obiano and his lack-lusture government from heaping blames on the dead, who can no longer defend  himself . The state  government  should  take the  blames and   responsibility”

“Are  there no  porous borders in Anambra State  that led to importation of infection, which led the state  into a second wave of the pandemic so soon, even though it foretold.

“Not even the hurried erection of metal gates in some entry points, too little, too late,  can assuage the feeling of carelessness which has registered in the minds of Ndi Anambra regarding the handling of this COVID 19 saga in Nnamdi Azikiwe’s home state” it stated.

The party therefore prayed  for visionary men  that will bring about purposeful leadership in Anambra State.
