LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed additional 23 cases of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 174.
The NCDC who announced the development said of the 23 fresh cases, 9 were found in Lagos, 7 in Abuja, 5 in Akwa Ibom, one in Kaduna and one in Bauchi, making a total of 23 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The NCDC said nine people who were on treatment for the pandemic have been discharged with two deaths so far recorded since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Twenty-three new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos, 7 in the FCT, 5 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Bauchi State As at 08:00 pm 1st April there are 174 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths”, the NCDC said.

While many may have been frightened that the confirmed cases has jumped to 174 in Nigeria, it is much more frightening when you look at the global figures. Globally, there are 853, 200 confirmed cases with 41,887 deaths.
Meanwhile, things are getting worse in the United States which has taken the lead in the list of most affected countries, reporting 189, 618 with 4,079 deaths.
Italy currently has 105, 792 confirmed cases with the highest number of deaths. A total of 12,430 patients have died of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. Spain currently has 94,417 confirmed cases with 8, 189 deaths. Germany has 67, 366 confirmed cases with 732 deaths, while France has reported 52, 128 confirmed cases with 3,523 deaths.
United Kingdom has 25, 150 confirmed cases with 1,789 deaths. China now reports 82, 295 cases with 3,310 deaths while Iran currently reports 44,606, with 2,898 deaths.
