COVID-19: Nigeria confirms 16 fresh cases as 81, 200 patients die globally

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 16 fresh cases of COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 254 just as 81, 200 patients have died globally.

According to the NCDC, out of the 16 fresh cases in Nigeria, 10 were found in Lagos, 2 in Abuja, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Delta State and 1 in Katsina State. However, out of the 254 cases in Nigeria, 44 patients have recovered and have been discharged, while 6 patients have been confirmed dead.

“Sixteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 10 in Lagos, 2 in the FCT, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Delta and 1 in Katsina As at 09:30 pm 7th April there are 254 confirmed cases of #COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Forty-four have been discharged with six deaths”, the NCDC said.

Meanwhile the total number of those afflicted globally has reached 1, 413, 415 confirmed cases with the United States fast approaching 400 confirmed cases. The US currently has a total of 386, 817 confirmed cases with 12, 291 deaths, while 20, 191 patients have recovered based on current figures released by Centre for Systematic Science and Engineering at John Hopkins University.

Spain is the second most afflicted country, reporting 140, 617 confirmed cases, 13, 912 deaths while 43, 208 people have recovered. Italy, the third most affected country now has 135, 586 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic with 17, 127deaths while 24, 392 patients have recovered.

France, the 4th most afflicted country now 110, 049 confirmed cases with 10, 343 deaths, while 19, 516 patients have recovered. Occupying the 5th spot is Germany which currently has 107, 591 confirmed cases with 2,012 deaths while 36, 081 patients have recovered.

In the sixth spot is China which now has 82, 718 confirmed cases with 3,335 deaths while 77, 410 patients have recoverd. Next is Iran, which now has 62, 589 confirmed cases with 3, 872 deaths, while a total of 27, 039 patients have recovered.

Next in the United Kingdom which now has 55,946 confirmed cases with 6, 171 deaths while only 325 patients have recovered.
