Cases of Coronavirus now 2, 707, 356 worldwide

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 108 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 981.

Out of the 108 cases, 78 were found in Lagos, 14 in Abuja, 5 in Ogun State, 4 in Gombe, 3 in Borno, 2 in Akwa Ibom State, 1 in Kwara State and 1 in Plateau State, the NCDC has said.

It added that out of the 981 cases of Coronavirus, 197 patients have been treated and discharged while 31 patients could not make it.

But globally, there are now 2, 707, 356 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 190, 743 patients are dead, based on statistics released by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland with the United States still leading other countries in terms of the number of infections and deaths.

According to the centre, there are currently 868, 395 confirmed cases in the US with 49, 861 deaths, followed by Spain with 213, 024 confirmed cases with 22, 157 deaths.

Next is Italy, which currently has 189, 973 confirmed cases of the pandemic, with 25, 549 deaths, followed by France with 159, 460 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 21, 889 deaths.

Germany has 153, 129 confirmed cases of the pandemic, with 5, 575 deaths, followed by United Kingdom with 139, 246 cases of Coronavirus with 18, 791 deaths.

Next is Turkey with 101, 790 cases of Coronavirus with 2, 491 deaths. Iran has reported 87, 026 with 5, 481 deaths, while China, where the pandemic started now has a total of 83, 884 confirmed cases with 4,636 deaths.
