ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria has recorded the first death in the COVID-19, Coronavirus pandemic.

The man who died from the COVID-19 has been identified as form Managing Director of Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of NNPC, Mr. Suleiman Achimugu.

Achimugu, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), was 67 and he returned home following a medical treatement in UK. The NCDC said he had an underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy when he died.

“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67 year old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK.

He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy Our thoughts are with his family”, the NCDC said.

The NCDC said it will not be commenting on the management of individual cases, adding that the management of cases is the responsibility of States and treatment centres and that they are doing their best under difficult circumstances.
