LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed four additional cases of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 135, with two deaths.

A breakdown of the four new cases according to the NCDC shows that three of the fresh cases were discovered in Osun State and One in Ogun State.

“Four new cases of #COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria; 3 in Osun and 1 in Ogun As at 11:15 am 31st March there are 135 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 2 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

The four new cases were confirmed just at the only patient in Isolation Centre in Ekiti State was discharged.

“Thanks to our resilient health workers, Ekiti state’s #COVID19 patient has now been discharged. With this, Ekiti State has no coronavirus patient at its isolation center. #COVID19Nigeria”, governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi said on twitter.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has said that the virus that causes #COVID19 is not airborne. According to the agency, studies reveal that the pandemic is spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes and the droplets land on nearby surfaces.

It is urging all to maintain a social distance of 2 metres always and for those who are ill to wear a face mask to avoid infecting others.

Globally, there are 803, 650 cases of COVID-19 with 39,003 deaths. United States remains the most afflicted with 162 258 cases with 3,044 deaths.

South Africa is the most affected in Africa, reporting 1, 326 with just 3 deaths. But Egypt has the highest number of deaths, recording 40 deaths, Morocco with 33 and Algeria 31 deaths.
