Says SWAN is my enemy

ANAMBRA, Nigeria – Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr. Tonny Oli has described the State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) as his enemy.
According to Oli, who spoke at an occasion to mark SWAN 56 years anniversary by the state chapter yesterday, said he never wanted to honour the invitation of SWAN to attend the anniversary celebration because he sees the body as an enemy. The sports writers, in the state he said are always attacking him and looking for his down fall.
He also accused SWAN of operating as opposition political party to the commision, looking for the mistake of the commission.
According to him, the Commision and SWAN have different roles to play and urged SWAN to concentrate on its reporting and leave sports adminstration for him.
” Is it all about attacks on the commision and me from SWAN. Iam not competing with SWAN. SWAN accused me of not having any programme and activities. I have done alot of grassroots sports development which has earned many laurels to the state.
“We have some youths who are in scholarship in Abuja courtesy of the grassroots sports development in the state. I don’t know why SWAN is on my neck. I have achieved alot in sports development which I did not want to celebrate on the media” he said.
He said he did want to come to SWAN 56th anniversary celebration, but due to the pressure from one Mr.Felix, he decided to honour the invitation as an enemy to vent his anger.
” The police game is taking place in Anambra state and all of you ran to the police commissioner to show solidarity and love and nobody cares to involve me. You want to tell the police you love them. Iam not distracted by what you and others say about me so long the governor approves my activities” he said .
Reacting, a veteran sports writers and guest lecturer at the occasion, Mr Victor Nwangwu advised the chairman to make peace with SWAN, describing it as his partner in progress.
According to him,as a father of the sports in the state, he should be looking for them and give them the details of the Commision’s activities .
“You should call SWAN to the round table and make peace with them , they are your partner in progress and you cannot do without them” he advised
