ABUJA, Nigeria – Former spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Olisa Methu was today convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Olisa Metuh was sentenced to a total of 39 years by Justice Okon Abang, after finding him guilty of all the 7 counts charge.

Justice Abang sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment on count 1, 2, 4 and count 7 respectively.

Olisa Metuh was sentenced to five years on count 3 and three years on count 5 with a fine of N25 million and three years imprisonment on count 6 with a fine of N25 million.,

Olisa Metuh will in addition to spending 39 years in jail pay a total sum of N375 million to the coffers of the Federal Government, making it the severest of punishment meted out to looters under this dispensation.

After the arrest of Olisa Metuh on January 5, 2016 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, he was arraigned on a 7-count charge for allegedly receiving N400million  from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), who is also being tried for laundering $2.1 billion.
