IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Celebrity hangout and entertainment centre, Club Quilox has reopened for business.
The club reopened for business after the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency(LASEPA) unsealed the entertainment centre which was sealed since Tuesday, December 24 on the eve of Christmas for violating relevant environmental laws.
General Manager, LASEPA, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe said on Tuesday that the agency shut Club Quilox for incessant noise, violation of rights of residents to the peaceful ambience without recourse to the extant law guiding its operations of maintaining standard permissible noise level and that the the acceptable noise levels, including music, are 65 decibels during the day and 55 decibels at night.
However, LASEPA said it unsealed Club Quilox on Thursday after management of the entertainment centre and celebrity hangout made commitment to the Lagos State Government that it will comply with Lagos State environmental laws.
“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has re-opened Club Quilox on Friday after securing the management’s commitment to comply with the State’s Environmental Laws, Regulations, Guidelines and Standards”, LASEPA said.
It was indeed a very trying week for Club Quilox whose owner, Hon. Shina Peller also had a rough encounter with the police, when he allegedly led his boys to a nearby police station to forcefully retrieve vehicles towed away from the entertainment centre for obstructing traffic, even preventing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos from using the popular Ozumba Mbadiwe, Street where the club is located.
Club Quilox is situated on plot 873 Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos.
