LAGOS, Nigeria – Popular celebrity hangout and entertainment centre, Club Quilox, situated at 873 Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island has been shut by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency(LASEPA).
Club Quilox was shut just in the holiday season where club activities are expected to be at its peak. LASEPA said it sealed the club owned by the late magician, Professor Shina Peller for violating relevant environmental laws.
Speaking on the closure of the entertainment centre, General Manager, LASEPA, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe said his agency shut Club Quilox at exactly 1:30 pm today, for incessant noise, violation of rights of residents to the peaceful ambience without recourse to the extant law guiding its operations of maintaining standard permissible noise level.
Dolapo Fasawe said the acceptable noise levels, including music, are 65 decibels during the day and 55 decibels at night.
Most entertainment centre where celebrity hangout are noted for noise pollution and causing traffic gridlock due to high level of visitors.
