IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court today remanded a 45-year-old man, Aderemi Adeleja, in prison custody for sexual assault of his 17-year-old daughter allegedly.
Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikiri prison custody for sexual assault of his daughter.
The defendant, who lives at Afariogun area of Ishodi in Lagos, is facing a three-count charge bordering on unlawful sexual assault and defilement.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant on Nov. 2, unlawfully assaulted his daughter in his home at 11.44 p.m. while she was sleeping.
“The defendant sexually abused the girl by forcefully removing her cloth and pant and putting his finger into her private part.
The defendant also defiled his daughter by unlawfully having carnal knowledge of her through penetration,” he said.
He said the case was reported at Area ‘F’ Police Command, Ikeja by the girl’s mother and later transferred to Gender section, Ikeja Police Command.
The offences, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 35, 137 and 265 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Sule-Amzat ordered the police to send the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice and adjourned the case until Feb. 2, 2020. NAN
