ABUJA, Nigeria – Convener #revolutionnow and publisher Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore was today arraigned before a Federal High Court by the Deparment of State Security(DSS).
He was arraigned along with Olawale Bakare on seven count charge of terrorism, treasonable felony, money laundering and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari.
He and his colleague were arraigned before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu. Sowore pleaded not guilty to charges. Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN was not in court. He was represented by Olumide, SAN who initially told the court that there was no need for Sowore to take the plea since he has already being arraigned.
After entering his no-guilty plea, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu adjourned the matter to October 4, 2019 for trial. Efforts by Sahara Reporter to address journalists who were gathered in the court was aborted by DSS officials who pulled him out of camera.
All he could say before he was forced out was that Nigerians must fight for its soul until they get freedom as his supporters chorus #revolutionnow as he was been dragged away.
His lawyer, Olumide, SAN who also addressed reporters said ” freedom will certainly come from the yoke of oppression and that “no condition is permanent”.
