WASHINGTON, U.S – The United States of America has called for release of award winning Chinese journalist, Huang Qi, who has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by Chinese authority.
Huang Qi who works for www.64tianwang.com has been honoured by Reporters Without Borders for his courage in exposing corruption and human rights violations in China through his website, 64 Tianwang.
In a statement, the United States Department of States describes his sentencing to 12 years imprisonment as an indication of China’s continued repression of human rights and fundamental freedom, including free speech.
“We call on China to immediately release Mr. Huang, and to allow him access to his family, medical care, and legal counsel as soon as possible. We also call on China to end undue restrictions on the freedom of movement of his family and those who assisted him”, the department said.
