LAGOS, Nigeria – Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN) has been released. He was released shortly after a Kaduna High Court, granted the Shiite leader and his wife, Zeenat permission to travel abroad for medical examination.
Public Relations Officer of the Department of Security Service, DSS, Mr. Peter Afunanya confirmed the development in a statement in Lagos.
Failure by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to release Ibrahim El-Zakzaky even after he was granted bail by Federal High Courts in Abuja forced the members of the movement into street protests in Abuja leading to the death of a senior policeman and two journalists.
