Eagles pockets USD 175,000 from match

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt – Nigeria secured a narrow win over Indomitable Lions of Cameroon today at the African Nations Cup taking place in Alexandria, Egypt. But it was a well deserved victory, which has moved the Super Eagles into the quarter finals.

The Super Eagles shot into the lead in the 19th minutes when Odion Ighalo connected a ball from Kenneth Omerou which he slotted into the net.

The Indomitable Lions continued to mount pressure on the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Their effort paid off in the 41st minute when Stephane Bahoken connected a ball from Christian Bassogog and succeeded in finding the back of the net.

But they seemed more determined. They continued the pressure and went into the lead, making it 2 : 1 just 3 minutes later when Clinton N’jie connected a ball in the 44th minutes from Stephane Bahoken and found the back of the Nigerian net for the second time in 3 minutes

The lions came into the second half smoking and succeeded in controlling ball possession. But things changed for the Nigerian side in the 63rd minutes when Odion Ighalo found the back of the net after connecting a ball from Ahmed Musa.

The Eagles continued to mount pressure on Cameroon. The effort paid off 3 minutes later when Alex Iwobi scored after connecting a ball from Odion Ighalo.

Ball possession was 60 for Cameroon and 40 for Nigeria, the match referee was Joshua Bondo from Botswana. With this win, the eagles now have USD175,000 courtesy, Benedict Peters of AITEO.
